What to Do While Waiting for the Ambulance
Immediate first aid actions can double a patient’s survival rate. Follow these medical protocols while our Quick Safe paramedic crew is en route.
Adult CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
Immediate chest compressions double or triple a patient's chance of survival after sudden cardiac arrest.
Push down hard and fast matching the rhythm of the flashing pulse. Aim for 100–120 compressions per minute.
Step-by-Step Emergency Execution:
Check scene safety, tap patient shoulders and loudly ask "Are you okay?".
Call Quick Safe Ambulance IMMEDIATELY on 0721 853 796 and place on speakerphone.
Place heel of one hand in the center of the chest, interlock other hand on top.
Push hard and fast: 100 to 120 compressions per minute at least 2 inches (5cm) deep.
Allow full chest recoil between compressions without removing hands.
Continue uninterrupted until the paramedic crew arrives with the defibrillator.
- ✓Push to the beat of "Stayin' Alive" (100-120 BPM)
- ✓Keep your arms straight and lock your elbows
- ✓Swap with another person every 2 minutes to prevent rescuer fatigue
- ✕Do not stop compressions for more than 10 seconds
- ✕Do not delay calling 0721 853 796 to check a pulse if untrained
- ✕Do not move the patient unless they are in direct immediate danger
Never delay calling 0721 853 796 while administering first aid. Paramedic arrival time determines long-term outcomes.
